Part of Your World (Part of Your World #1) by Abby Jimenez

Summary (from the publisher): The New York Times bestselling author of Life's Too Short delivers a refreshingly modern fairy tale perfect for fans of Casey McQuiston and Emily Henry.

After a wild bet, gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich, and cuddle with a baby goat, Alexis Montgomery has had her world turned upside down. The cause: Daniel Grant, a ridiculously hot carpenter who’s ten years younger than her and as casual as they come—the complete opposite of sophisticated city-girl Alexis. And yet their chemistry is undeniable.

While her ultra-wealthy parents want her to carry on the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis doesn’t need glory or fame. She’s fine with being a “mere” ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the tight-knit town where he lives, she’s discovering just what’s really important. Yet letting their relationship become anything more than a short-term fling would mean turning her back on her family and giving up the opportunity to help thousands of people.

Bringing Daniel into her world is impossible, and yet she can’t just give up the joy she’s found with him either. With so many differences between them, how can Alexis possibly choose between her world and his?

Review: This is the fifth Abby Jimenez novel I have read and my favorite to date! I absolutely loved Alexis and Daniel's story. This felt very Hallmark and I mean that in the best way possible - just a satisfying love story to enjoy and savor! Alexis is a big city, wealthy doctor. And Daniel is a smalltown carpenter and inn owner. They have instant chemistry, and Alexis feels at home and accepted by Daniel in a way that she has never felt by her family or previous boyfriend.

Daniel is such a top tier book boyfriend. He is sexy, good hearted, talented, and just an overall good person. I love how wholeheartedly accepting he is of Alexis and that the age gap makes no difference to him. She needed unconditional love in her life, and he delivered.

I saw an inspiring post not too long ago that we should rate and review books for what they are and not what they aren't. This is not literary fiction. This is a feel-good rom com! And it is one of the best in its class I have read! I had so much fun listening to this on audio. This was a dual narration and both narrators made the characters come to life. I didn't want the story to end.

I read this connected series out of order based on when they were available for check out from my library. But I don't think it affected my perception of the book. It was fun to see characters I knew well from other books referenced, and knowing little details about Daniel and his family that he doesn't yet know and that aren't revealed until book 3.

I do wish this could have skipped the third act breakup. But I also think Alexis had some things she needed to work through and had to come to the realization of what she wanted out of life on her own. I also think there is somewhat of a pattern in Jimenez's books where the female lead is the one hurting the male lead. Alexis does break Daniel's heart. But I do think she did it with good intentions and she made it right in the end.
