First Comes Scandal (Rokesbys #4) by Julia Quinn

Summary (from the publisher): She was given two choices...

Georgiana Bridgerton isn't against the idea of marriage. She'd just thought she'd have some say in the matter. But with her reputation hanging by a thread after she's abducted for her dowry, Georgie is given two options: live out her life as a spinster or marry the rogue who has ruined her life.

Enter Option #3

As the fourth son of an earl, Nicholas Rokesby is prepared to chart his own course. He has a life in Edinburgh, where he's close to completing his medical studies, and he has no time -- or interest -- to find a wife. But when he discovers that Georgie Bridgerton -- his literal girl-next-door -- is facing ruin, he knows what he must do.

A Marriage of Convenience

It might not have been the most romantic of proposals, but Nicholas never thought she'd say no. Georgie doesn't want to be anyone's sacrifice, and besides, they could never think of each other as anything more than childhood friends... or could they?

But as they embark upon their unorthodox courtship, they discover a new twist to the age-old rhyme. First comes scandal, then comes marriage. But after that comes love...

Review: Georgiana Bridgerton has been compromised by a rogue who wants to force her into a marriage to access her dowry. Unbeknownst to her, her good family friends the Rokesbys are taking matters in hand to save her from either marrying a rogue or remaining a spinster. As a fourth son, Nicholas Rokesby is busy pursuing a career in medicine, but his father has called him home and requested that he propose to Georgiana. While originally a marriage of convenience, the two find themselves remarkably drawn to one another and consider that perhaps they were meant to be all along.

This was another cute installment in the Bridgerton prequel series. I was excited to see another independent and spunky lead, a working man in our leading man, and the always enjoyable marriage of convenience. I was also very excited to see a young Violet Bridgerton and a few of her sons as young boys in this novel! It was nice to see that tie-in of characters that become leading men in the Bridgerton series.

I do wish that Georgie and Andrew had had more of a connection other than physical. If anything, he seemed more consumed with his medical studies than his wife, and she was the one fighting for them to spend more time together. I think he could have made more time for both in his life. But otherwise, this was another sweet romance with a satisfying happy ending.
