Just Josefina (American Girl: Short Stories #20) by Valerie Tripp

Summary (from the publisher): Josefina's grandparents from Santa Fe come to visit--and they bring Tia Delores with them. She is excited to see them, but trying to please her own new ways with her grandmother's old ways may be tough. Illustrations.

Review: After reading all of the Josefina books, this is the final short story I had left to read with my daughters! I really liked how this highlighted Josefina's special relationship with her grandmother. Over the course of the book, both Josefina and her Abuelita must examine their relationship and the ways in which it has been impacted by the death of Josefina's mother.

This was such a sweet short story. As always, I remain impressed by how complete the plot felt despite being a short story. Throughout each of the novels, Josefina remains a sweet and dutiful girl, grappling with loss but still earnestly trying to do the right thing. I have enjoyed learning more about the time period and area through her stories and exploring her story with both of my daughters.
