Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass #4) by Sarah J. Maas

Summary (from the publisher): No masters. No limits. No regrets.

Celaena Sardothien has embraced her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her throne, she must fight.

She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die for her. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen's triumphant return.

Everyone Aelin loves has been taken from her. Everything she holds dear is in danger. But she has the heart of a queen-and that heart beats for vengeance.

In this fourth book in the #1 New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series, no one will escape the queen's wrath.

Review: At last, Calaena Sardothien has reclaimed her true identity of Aelin Galanthynish, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can rule as queen, she must fight. Her cousin Aedion is imprisoned and condemned to death by the evil Kind of Adarlan. Likewise, her people are enslaved. Prince Dorian is enslaved and potentially lost. Everything Aelin holds dear is in danger. But she is still a trained assassin with both physical skills and cunning to fight her way to freedom.

This is the first book in this series that I have truly enjoyed without hesitation! Loved Aelin's plotting and fighting to regain the upper hand in this. I also loved learning more about the witches in their chapters. This is of course high fantasy so lots of suspension of disbelief is required but I loved the magic filled fight scenes and the horror of characters trapped within their own bodies by an invading demon.

There is a lot of potential couples in this with lots of chemistry and interest but because of the tumultuous and dangerous times, none feel free to pursue their love interest. This of course sets the reader up well for the next book in the series. And it really makes this an action-packed fantasy with some romantic subplots. Really excited to see where the characters and the plot takes us in book five.
