Samantha Saves the Wedding (American Girl: Short Stories #11) by Valerie Tripp

Summary (from the publisher): When Cornelia's veil is ruined on the day of her wedding ceremony in 1904, nine-year-old Samantha comes to the rescue, in a new American Girls story which includes information on wedding customs in the early 1900s and instructions for making a bridesmaid bouquet.

Review: I had to pause reading the main series of Samantha's books with my kids when we realized Cornelia and Gard had gotten married in between the timelines of the books and track down this short story that captures their big day! I love that Samantha was involved and ended up playing a key role in helping make sure every detail was perfect. My daughters were particularly invested in seeing pictures of the wedding and learning about Cornelia's wedding day. They were fascinated that Samantha got to be a bridesmaid in the wedding even though she is still so young.

I enjoyed the peek into the past section in this book a lot since it gave a great overview on the history of wedding celebrations and traditions. We all really enjoyed this short story and were glad we got to see more into this special occasion in Samantha's life.

I just wish the short stories came with insight into when they should be read compared to the main book series! Many of the short stories contain spoilers for the final books in the series but then others, like this one, have scenes that are skipped over in the full-length books.
