The Score (Off-Campus #3) by Elle Kennedy

Summary (from the publisher): He knows how to score, on and off the ice...

Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn't have the first clue about what she's going to do after college. To make matters worse, she's nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won't include the king of one-night stands.

It'll take more than flashy moves to win her over...

Dean always gets what he wants. Girls, grades, girls, recognition, girls...he's a ladies man, all right, and he's yet to meet a woman who's immune to his charms. Until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world-and now she wants to be friends? Nope. It's not over until he says it's over. Dean is in full-on pursuit, but when life-rocking changes strike, he starts to wonder if maybe it's time to stop focusing on scoring...and shoot for love.

Review: Obviously, I am here reading this series thanks to the show, and I have been looking forward to Dean and Allie's story! Allie is a relationship girl who is going through a breakup and decides that some rebound sex with hockey star and lady's man Dean Di Laurentis might help her get past her heartbreak.

Dean and Allie have great chemistry and I loved their connection. This book was so fun and I flew through it. Very much here for the connection they have for each other. I loved getting Dean's back story, including why he isn't really a relationship guy because of events in his past and learning a little more about his family. It was refreshing to see a rich family that is still down to earth and friendly, which I feel is very rare.

I did not expect this book to get so heavy near the end. There is a tragic death that could be triggering to some readers, and subsequent alcohol abuse as a fallout from grief. Just a head's up for any readers who may want to know going in. I did like that it shows that Dean and Allie's relationship can weather the storm.

I've said this in my other reviews for books in this series, but I'll say it again - I'm still not a fan of all the casual hooking up in these books. Every relationship starts with casual sex. No shade, it's just not my favorite. HOWEVER, these are so fun, and I have so much love for the show, that I am more than happy to get past that and see the characters and the relationship that ultimately evolves. But also, I did not like that Dean continually refers to his private parts as Little Dean. Can we not lol.
